BIOGRAPHY
RYAN CASE (born 1975, in Lexington, Kentucky) is a well-respected stage and film actor, primarily in regional theatre. His parents came from a performing tradition; his father was a big band musician and his mother a singer. Ryan's own musical skills include piano, acoustic guitar, violin, dulcimer, mandolin, and the banjo. His acting training includes the Lexington Shakespeare Apprenticeship Program, training with Janet Scott and Joe Gatton, and study at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
His body of stage work includes roles in productions of A Mid-Summer Night's Dream, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Tartuffe. He has won two Best Actor awards for the lead role in Bat Boy: The Musical and as 'Billy' in the drama The Cripple of Inishmaan. Ryan's other stage work includes The Picture of Dorian Gray, MacBeth, The Glass Menagerie, Our Town, and The King and I.
Ryan was recently awarded two separate honors by the National Society of Arts and Letters, and starred in the world premiere presentation of the play Contact by Doug Grissom - alongside his acting 'hero' Barry Morse. He is a founding member of The New Performance Group and received rave reviews for his portrayal of 'Vincent Van Gogh' in the hit production of Vincent in Brixton.
He is the star of True Self, an independent television miniseries produced by FILMdyne LLC, scheduled to debut in 2007. His most recent stage production is the Kentucky premiere of the Broadway play Copenhagen for Balagula Theatre. Ryan also serves as artistic director of Leeds Center for the Arts in Winchester, Kentucky.
